The Smithers sign bylaw is closer to becoming law after it’s third reading last night

Now all the changes are in place

Councillor Phil Brienesse says they’ve worked hard to make the bylaw clear.

“The bylaw is very concise in what you are allowed to do and what you are not allowed to do,” permitting the signs to only be built with wood, metal and glass, excluding aluminium or composite materials.

It’s all about keeping the alpine theme of the downtown strong.

“and that’s what we were working really hard to safeguard…I wouldn’t want to be part of the council that let that fall apart.”

The bylaw still has to go before council before becoming law.
