Burns Lake potholes lead to mayor’s arrest?

Failure to repair potholes on 5th and Centre Street in downtown Burns Lake have led to the arrest of Mayor Luke Strimbold.

The ‘mock’ arrests of community members, and the mayor, is aimed at raising money for Cops for Cancer with the local RCMP’s Jail and Bail.

“So it’s raising money for the Cops for Cancer as they ride their bikes 850 kilometres from Prince George to Prince Rupert, raising funds for children’s pediatrics research and Camp Good Time,” says Strimbold. “It’s great to see the active participation of community members raising their bail money so they can get out,” of jail, a place Strimbold seemed to still be stuck in a mid the sound of sirens when we interviewed him over the phone.

Luckily for Strimbold there’s no law against mayors for not repairing all the potholes in town.

RCMP plan on arresting more people at this Saturday’s Fall Fair in Burns Lake with Jail and Bail.

Cops for Cancer will be starting their bike trip next week.
