A 20-year-old local male is in police custody and will be facing several Criminal Code charges following an early morning robbery yesterday at the Capri Motor Inn on Highway 16 in Smithers.
RCMP made the arrest after the robbery was reported around 4 a.m. by the front desk attendant at the Motel.
“Fortunately incidents like this are quite rare in Smithers,” says Smithers RCMP Sgt. Shaun Begg. “It’s gratifying to see this suspect into custody quickly. We will be recommending several charges to Crown against this suspect, including robbery and using a disguise.”
No one was hurt during the robbery.
