Steelheads will collect money for food bank during Saturday’s battle with win-less Ice Demons

The last Steelheads hockey game of 2016 will be combined with raising money for the local Salvation Army in town.

The idea is to collect money and food for the food bank in Smithers ahead of Christmas for struggling families in need.

Coach Tom DeVries also hopes they’re able to beat the win-less Kitimat Ice Demons.

“I think we’re short bodies again due to injuries and Christmas. Who knows, the Demons always come out and put on a good battle,” says DeVries.

The Steelheads are on home ice Saturday at 7:30.

DeVries says donations won’t be offsetting ticket purchases this year.
