The use of wood stoves will be restricted in the Town of Smithers today due to an air quality advisory.
Only wood stoves that are a primary source of heat may be used during the advisory as per a town bylaw.
The Ministry of Environment issued the advisory due to high particulate matter in the air that’s expected to persist throughout the day.
They’re calling for persons with chronic underlying medical conditions to postpone strenuous exercise until the advisory is lifted.
