A police investigation is ongoing into a house fire at a residence last night west of Smithers on HWY 16.
The occupants of the house weren’t home at the time of the fire and no injuries have been reported.
RCMP say a 52-year-old male was arrested at the residence for an incident that occurred between the occupants earlier in the day. The man remains in police custody.
The scene of the blaze will be further examined by the Terrace RCMP Forensic Identification Section and the fire chief.
The fire was extinguished by Smithers Fire Rescue and the house sustained significant damage.
