Alcohol and speed suspected factors in Fort Babine crash, one sent to hospital

An 18-year-old First Nations woman has suffered serious injuries after a single vehicle collision in Fort Babine.

Smithers RCMP believe alcohol and speed were contributing factors in the collision early Friday morning.

sometime after 6 a.m., the lone driver lost control of the 99 GMC Jimmy while making a turn at a gravel road intersection.

The SUV then came to a stop in the ditch after going off the road to the right.

The woman was airlifted to hospital in Prince Rupert.

Police are continuing an investigation into the crash.
