A pair of chewed-up roads in Burns Lake are approved for new pavement

A few roads in Burns Lake will see some new asphalt soon.

Council approved paving 5th Ave. from Hwy 16 to Centre St. and from the Bottom of Centre St. to Second Ave.

The combined cost is around $160,000.

Mayor Chris Beach says there’s a few more roads that are looking rough.

*8th Ave. in our town is also in desperate need – but we’ve got a whole project planned on the books and we’re applying for grants. So, we’re holding off on 8th Ave. because we want to do that all together and rebuild the whole road.”

Beach says the estimated cost of that project rings in at $3.2 million.

He hopes the Trudeau government will be able to contribute.
