Nominations are now closed for the Moricetown Band Election.
There’s currently 68 people running for the 2-year-term of council and 12 for chief.
The election has also put the revote for the Coastal Gas Link LNG project on ice until there’s at least a new council.
Staff say the decision to postpone the LNG vote is partially due to the current election and scheduling issues.
The band says they’ve started to mail out ballots to members on and off reserve for the band election.
Voting day is July 27th at the Multiplex.
