Smithers nearly reaches seasonal temperatures during June

Smithers experienced a June that was a tad below normal.

Environment Canada’s Greg Pearce says the region fell just short of reaching seasonal temperatures.

“It was just slightly cooler than normal with the average high at 18.8 degrees, the normal is 19.4 so we’re just about a half a degree cooler than normal.”

However, a normal amount of rainfall came through the area according to Pearce. “We had 48 millimeters of rain and the normal is 55.2 so we were pretty well bang on for precipitation in the Smithers area.”

The hottest day of the month fell on June 7 with a temperature of 28.5 degrees while coldest day came a few days earlier on the 4th where the town experienced a low of minus one.
