A local golfing phenom finished in the Top 30 of the BC Junior Boys’ Championships at the Squamish Valley Golf Club.
17-year-old Joel Veenstra shot a final round 77 (+5) on Friday afternoon for a four-day total score of 308 (+20).
The Bulkley Valley Christian student finished with seven others in a tie for 27th, 24 shots back of gold medalist Christian Zalli of Vancouver (-4).

He accumulated nine birdies, 39 pars, and 24 bogeys or worse.
The Smithers Golf and Country Club (SGCC) member finished tied for 46th at the event last season at Arbutus Ridge GC near Duncan.
Veenstra also took home the gold medal at this year’s BC High School Provincial ‘A’ Championships in Christina Lake.
