Telkwa is looking to get a Northern Health grant for the Telkwa to Smithers trail.
The Cycle 16 Society says the money will go towards detailed engineering drawings of the project.
The proposed trail still needs approval from the Ministry of Transportation along with a land use plan along the proposed routes.
Telkwa Council will be looking for letters of support from the regional district and the town of Smithers.

The Smithers Skatepark expansion project will be on the Smithers Council Agenda next week.
The non-profit group Boarding for Brant is asking council to help them get their hands on some grants for the project.
in a letter to council, Boarding for Brant says the expansion will be an asset to the town.
Council will also look to extend a program that allows business to get some money for a new alpine sign downtown.
Council will meet Tuesday at 6:30 at town hall.
