The Smithers Celebrity Golf Tournament is around the corner.
Chair of the committee Kent Delwish says the aim is to raise money for a CT Scanner at the Bulkley Valley Hospital.
He says a generous donation of $1.6 million from Fritz Pfeiffer last year got the ball rolling.
“The people that have to go to Terrace or Prince George to access something like a CT scanner, it’s crazy that we don’t have one.
Because Fritz donated that kind of money, it’s an opportunity for us to help out with that donation.”
Estimates for a CT scanner at the hospital are over $2 million.
Delwish says this year they’ll have 30 different celebrities in town including Dan Hamhuis. They’ll have their silent auction that Delwish says is always the largest fundraiser.
The three-day long event starts August 3rd.
