A lack of space is keeping the Smithers Library from expanding programs, according to the Chair of the board.
Wally Bergen says they could use almost three times the space of their current 34 hundred square foot building.
“What we’re asking for from Council is a substantial increase in space without a hard number,” says Bergen.
The proposed BV Arts and Culture Centre will incorporate a new space for the library.
Bergen says they’ll continue to work with town council on what things will look like. He says there are ways to share space with the other stakeholders (Visitor Centre and Museum) to increase efficiency.
