Smithers RCMP Report: June 25th – July 1st

Smithers RCMP responded to about 145 calls between June 25th and July 1st. Some of these calls include the following incidents:

Police were called to a single vehicle roll over on Hudson Bay Mountain Road Tuesday.

While it was being towed, the vehicle caught fire.

Due to the open fire ban and dry plans in the area, Foresty workers were contacted to monitor and contain the fire.

Passengers only had minor injuries, and police believe loose gravel and an inexperienced driver could have been factors.

Police and BC Ambulance responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 16 on Sunday, June 28th

Upon arrival, they found an injured female driver and her motorcycle.

She was taken to Bulkley Valley District Hospital and later taken to Prince George Hospital.

Her injuries were not made public. Police have not found any criminal offense in their investigation.

On Saturday, June 27th, Police responded to an alleged drunk driver at Tyhee Lake Provincial Park.

Police found the vehicle and began an investigation, where they found open liquor.

The driver was given an immediate 90-day Roadside Prohibition, vehicle impoundment, and a Violation Ticket.
