The Jury has released a list of 33 recommendations at the Coroner’s Inquest into the deaths of Robert Luggi and Carl Charlie on January 20th, 2012 at Babine Forest Sawmill. The Coroner also released 8 more recommendations for a grand total of 41.
The 7 Jurors finished hearing testimonies on Wednesday and began working on recommendations immediately. Their conclusion was announced early Friday afternoon.
The recommendations were addressed to different parties:
The jury suggested that the Mill have better first aid and lighting in the workplace, as well as a better “Hot work policy.”
There are also recommendations to WorkSafeBC, and the United Steelworkers Union that include dust safety education.
