Smithers RCMP received a call around 2 PM on Wednesday, August 12th regarding a missing 49-year-old Fort St. James man. He was last seen in the Fort Babine area on Monday, August 10th around 3 AM.
Police and local Search and Rescue workers immediately began looking for him upon receiving the call.
His body was found dead on August 13th at 11:20 AM.
UPDATE
The BC Coroner’s Service has released the identity of the Fort St James man as 49-year-old Mitchell Lazarre.
Lazarre went missing while fishing on Nilkitkwa Lake – about 100 kilometres north of Smithers – with his friends and family on August 10th.
The BC Coroner’s Service will continue to investigate the death.
