BVCDC receives $96,000 grant

A recently donated grant will help a local charity and families throughout the North.

The Bulkley Valley Child Development Centre has received $95,954 from Variety – The Children’s Charity.

Executive Director Kerri Bassett says the money will help the CDC’s “Project Pinwheel.”

“The grant will help with our building to be more inclusive and accessible for the community while we maintain our outreach service delivery to the Upper Skeena area, as well as throughout the Bulkley Valley.

The grant is about one tenth of the CDC’s total fundraising goal.

Variety spokesperson Dave McConachie explains why the Provincial charity chose the BVCDC.

“The sheer range of services offered by the Bulkley Valley CDC is amazing. What they do with the dollars, for a small organisation, they serve a very large area,” he says.

As a thank you for the grant money, the CDC will be renaming their family resource room after Variety.
