The Smithers Secondary Junior Girls basketball team will spend its first weekend of the holidays on the road.
The Gryphons will play four games against Dutchess Park in Prince George. They will play the school’s A and B team twice over the weekend.
Coach Chris van der Mark says this year’s team is a special group on and off the court.
“They’re just genuinely nice kids and this speaks to, obviously, some great families and great value sets there,” he says, “I don’t know how many times (or) how many different ways you can say ‘good’, but they’re just really, really good kids who represent their school and community well.”
The girls started their season last weekend with two wins in Prince Rupert.
