Federal grant for Granisle’s biomass furnace will “help move community forward”

A grant from the Feds will help those living in Granisle.

The Village was given $637,000 to expand the biomass furnace. As well as heating the fire hall, it will now warm the new school, and help generate local revenue.

Mayor Linda McGuire says everyone wins with this grant.

“It’s a much safer way, and easier way, to generate the heat, it’s a cost saving, and it’s a win-win for both: the school gets the new heating, moving the community forward, and we get a revenue generator out of it,’ she says.

The grant will pay for the whole project without a penny from taxpayers.
