Council and Access Smithers are working together to make getting around a little easier.
Town Council agreed Tuesday to give the group $5000. Access Smithers will use this to help businesses make their stores fronts more user-friendly.
Mayor Taylor Bachrach says this helps tackle mobility concerns in town, especially along Main street.
“Hopefully, this program is going to provide a little bit of an incentive to building owners to do some retrofits to their buildings and make them easier to access for people who have a bit of a challenge getting around.”
The town has also helped with mobility by putting in curb let downs for those in wheelchairs and scooters.
