Road dust maintenance now in Telkwa’s hands

Telkwa is taking it upon itself to deal with road dust concerns.

Council decided to buy storage tanks to hold road dust maintenance chemicals.

Mayor Darcy Repen says the Village already owns all the needed equipment to spread dust-removing chemicals. With the tanks, workers can now take care of any problems.

“We have more control and the ability to do spot applications later in the summer if there are areas that need a touch-up,” he says.

By doing this, the Village cuts out expensive contracting services and can get jobs done in a timely manner.

The supplies will keep road dust from flying into the air.

The tanks will cost about $9000, but Repen says it will save money in the long run.
