Molly Moolman is on her way to becoming Canada’s next big thing.
She’s in grade-10 at Smithers Secondary and is now in the regional finals of this year’s CBC Searchlight competition.
She learned about the competition through her mom and decided to record her original song, “Little Bird,” with her good friend fellow musician, Gavin Day.
She’s been singing all her life and picked up a guitar three years ago. She’s said that she’s passionate about music.
“I always felt like music is kind of a way to vent, kind of a way to clear your head. When you enjoy doing something you kind of just have a driven passion for it, and you’re willing to work for it, especially when it gives you that satisfaction.”
The National winner will get $50,000, including $20,000 in music equipment.
