Largest 2015 GDP growth in Canada goes to BC at 3.0%

BC’s GDP rose 3.0% in 2015 which outpaced Canada’s 0.9% mark according to Stats Canada.

Guillaume Dube with the Industry Accounts Division says last year’s jump was a continuation of a very solid 2014.

“This was following a growth of 2.9% from 2014 which was mostly coming from the service producing industries which grew 3.8%, however, goods-producing ones such as mining only went up 0.5%.”

One sector is partly responsible for last year’s rise according to Dube. “BC saw growth in the retail trade market which went up 6.3% it’s been really strong in previous year’s and should stay that way in the future.”

Ontario and Manitoba enjoyed similar increases last at 2.5 and 2.3 percent respectively.

The largest GDP decline took place in Alberta at -4.0%
