Telkwa residents have until next Wednesday to let the village know how they want trails and transportation improved

Public input is an important part of how Telkwa plans to improve transportation and trails in the Village – residents can give their point of view on any improvements needed in the community until next Wednesday with a survey on the village website

Mayor Darcy Repen says it’s crucial to understanding what projects council should invest in.

“For me personally…I don’t want to spend money unless I’m fully convinced that the community supports it,” says Repen.

He says the Trails and Transportation Assessment and Action Plan ties in with an asset management plan to prioritize spending for future projects. Something that he says also makes it easier for Telkwa to get their hands on grants for infrastructure.

“That public feedback makes it a lot easier for us as elected officials to stand behind our decisions – to be able to say, ‘we know this is what people want,’ because the people have told us so.”

Telkwa’s Trails and Transportation Assessment and Action Plan has a focus on age friendly access to transportation in the community.

The survey is available on the Village website and will be collected until next Wednesday.
