It was a successful day for the Return of the Salmon Celebration in Moricetown
The BBQ brings communities together to celebrate salmon in the Skeena River that make their way back into the area
Wet’suwet’en Chief Namoks, or john Ridsdale, says it’s about keeping the river clean.
“It’s just a matter of getting everyone together and realizing there’s resources there which is salmon,” says Namoks. “this time of year when the Salmon are coming back…it is to celebrate that they do come back and nourish us each year. It reminds us we need to keep our waters clean and look after our water habitats.”
The annual event had local leaders of government out for the celebration. Namoks says the event has been growing with hundreds gathered there this year.
