Smithers council looks at 3rd reading of sign-bylaw tonight

Smithers council will be working through the nuts and bolts of a new sign bylaw again at tonight’s meeting.

It’s expected a third reading to change rules around what materials are allowed for signs and what’s allowed on, or inside, a window – the idea is to strengthen the Alpine theme of the downtown.

They’ll also be looking at some good news with a report of safe radon levels in all municipal buildings. In December the town bought 40 testers to test 17 buildings.

Council will also be looking at arena advertising, selling some preschool equipment and washrooms at Bovill Square.
