Stikine MLA Doug Donaldson switches to ‘spokesperson for energy and mines’

Ahead of the 2017 BC Provincial election, the NDP have moved a few roles around. Stikine MLA Doug Donaldson will assume the role as spokesperson for energy and mines.

“My job is to hold the government accountable” for the environment, but also to boost investor confidence in the mining and exploration industry in the Northwest, especially as it relates to land claims, explains Donaldson.

“I think the investors main area where they lack confidence is the government’s approach to aboriginal title and land claims,” says Donaldson, saying the province ranks low on that issue internationally.

He says he has relevant experience with his previous role with energy and mines, building connections and contacts, and touring some of the projects happening in the north.

BC NDP Leader John Horgan says his previous role as spokesperson for child and family development will be handed over to Vancouver-Mount Pleasant MLA Melanie Mark.
