The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako are still looking for answers to questions after a meeting with CN rail yesterday.
Chair of the District Bill Miller says one area of concern is the spread of invasive species over boundaries.
“We didn’t like some of the answers…we asked them to take some of that back(to CN)for more in depth answers…like the invasive species issue for one…they(CN)treat their properties -their corridor, but what we’re suggesting is they need to contribute to, like the Northwest Invasive Plant council, what’s outside their boundaries.”
The transportation of dangerous goods through the district was also part of the conversation with CN.
“What is their capacity for spill response? (especially) in the case of a derailment,” says Miller.
The BC government passed a Spill Response Regime earlier in the year establishing new requirements for spill response and recovery.
