Fire ban in BV and Nadina Fire zones likely to continue throughout September

Northwest Wildfire Information Officer Haley Williams says they’re the only two zones in the northwest with that ban.

“Those zones are going to see the warmest temperatures next week. They’re both high to extreme hazard,” says Williams.

She also says part of the ban has a lot to do with the 30 per cent voluntary reduction in water usage after the ministry called a level three drought in the Skeena region, encompassing the entire northwest.

“Even if we get rain over the weekend it won’t drop the high hazard,” with the campfire ban likely continuing until the end of September.

The Skeena Fire Zone, encompassing Terrace, doesn’t have a campfire ban, but has an open fire prohibition.
