People that attend the BVX this weekend will notice a an upgraded fairgrounds.
New accessible washrooms were officially opened by mayor and council yesterday.
Mayor Bachrach says the fairgrounds are an important venue for the community.
“One of the shortcoming of the facility has been the lack of accessible bathroom facilities. It’s something that council has tried to remedy for several years and we’ve gone out to tender a few times and finally in this year’s budget we were able to allocate enough funds to make it happen.”
Bachrach says council under budgeted for the project for several years which led to delays in getting the washrooms installed.
“So in the 2016 budget, council decided to bite the bullet and allocate more funds and make the project happen. I think it’s going to serve the public well.”
