Donaldson said earlier this week he his holding the Christy Clark Government responsible for the 9 mine closures in BC.

Rustad believes the statement is hypocritical since Donaldson has been against mining since day 1.

“I find it somewhat disingenuous when he as an MLA has virtually opposed every mining opportunity in this province. I have debated him several times in the legislature and asked him to support any project and he refused.”

“During the last election campaign when we were building the Northwest Transmission Line he opposed it and suggested the money would be better spent planting trees and you wouldn’t have seen Red Chris or any other types of opportunities taking place in his riding without that kind of investment.”

Rustad acknowledged the issues facing the mining sector right now.

Despite the nine closures, 7 new mines including Red Chris has opened and the new Bruce Jack mine is on the horizon along with 8 other extensions.
