A fire ban is now in effect across much of the Nadina and Skeena Forest Districts.
Starting today campfires and open burning are prohibited in and around Smithers, Houston, Hazelton, Terrace and Kitimat.
The ban applies to campfires, outdoor stoves not CSA or ULC approved, open burns, fireworks and tiki torches.
Due to prolonged hot, dry weather the fire danger rating is currently at Extreme in most of the area.
