Have fun in the sun, but do it safely says cancer society

The Canadian Cancer Society is asking you to cover up this summer.

The society says you should try to avoid activities in direct sunlight between 11 am and 4 pm.

Health Promotion Coordinator Kerensa Medhurst says thats when the UV index is three or higher.

Medhurst says failure to do this means damage to your skin that could result in skin cancer.

She says skin cancer is on the rise in Canada, making it the most common form of cancer.
