Smithers Council meets tonight on possible changes to off-site improvements bylaw

Smithers Council will look at some changes to a bylaw that has businesses paying for off-site improvements like sidewalks.

Currently renovations 75 thousand dollars and over trigger the bylaw – council will look at bumping it up to 100 thousand.

Off street parking exemptions also made the agenda along with a downtown sidewalk improvement policy for tonight’s meeting.

A delegation is also expected to present ideas on how to rebuild the outdoor skating rink in town.

And council will receive a report of 781 thousand dollars in outstanding property taxes.

They’ll also receive a report on the wood Burning Appliance Survey.
