Smithers Skate Park Expansion plans rolling ahead

The Smithers Skate Park might grow 10 thousand square feet by the end of the next summer.

The plan is to keep up with the demand for skaters, and even bikers.

With a 3-D model on the table, Jason Krauskopf with the planning group says they’re ready to get the wheels rolling on a complete design.

“And if everyone pulls together with donations and grants, I’m confident that we’ll be able to get the park together by the end of next Summer.”

With fundraising efforts held under Boarding For Brant, they’re looking to raise an estimated 630 thousand to bring the plan to life.

“Once we have a design, then we can approach the community and ask for funding.”

They have over 60 thousand for the design portion, and are meeting tonight at the town hall to hash out further details.
