Smithers RCMP warn fentanyl is a problem in the north

Smithers RCMP are warning the public that small northern towns are not immune to the scourge of dangerous drugs like fentanyl.

Following yesterday’s alarming news of 555 fatal incidents so far this year, Sergeant Shaun Begg say that poses a clear and present danger and that the problem is here, too.

“Drug dealers dont care about who they hurt, and only care about making money,” says Begg.

He says police will soon be outfitted with Naloxone kits for overdose victims and will be trained on how to safely handle fentanyl
