Single vehicle roll-over near Smithers sends two to hospital, with one in critical condition

A 41-year-old female is in critical condition after a single vehicle roll-over on Highway 16 near Stenman Road north of Lake Kathlyn yesterday afternoon.

Police say she was ejected from the vehicle on impact and has been flown out of town for further medical treatment.

A 44-year-old male, who has been identified as the driver, was released from hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the car was travelling eastbound when it suddenly swerved to the right, went off road, hitting the ditch then rolling.

The RCMP indicate wildlife may have been a contributing factor in the incident.
