The announcement was made by Premier Christy Clark on Monday and believes our parks have become a major selling point.

“We are a global destination, we have had a record 4.5 million international visitors come here this year and created 127,000 jobs for people who work in tourism and hospitality. It is a major reason why people decide to move here.”

About 14% of the province is currently preserved in parks and is the anchor to BC’s 13 billion dollar tourism sector which is booming right now according to Chair, Campaign for BC Parks, Rick Careless.

“They are the super in Supernatural BC and really are keystone to the close by nature lifestyle that attracts people to come to British Columbia to settle and invest.”

More than 800 of the sites will be in provincial parks and over 1,000 will be in recreation sites.
