Free energy saving kits this Friday at the Smithers Salvation Army

To help people pay for heating and electricity during winter, BC Hydro is teaming up with the Salvation army in Smithers to give out free energy savings kits.

Tim Sharp with the Salvation Army says it will help people struggling to balance their budgets.

“When you have to choose between putting food on the table or heating your house, it’s a very tough choice for some people. So I think this really does help some people with that,” says Sharp.

To get the free kits you need to show your BC Hydro Bill. Sharp says the initiative isn’t only about saving people money, “but also to be better stewards of the environment, I think that’s important.”

the kits will contain energy saving products like light bulbs, low flow shower heads, faucet aerators and draft proofing.

BC Hydro will be giving out the kits this Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Salvation Army Centre in Smithers.
