TransCanada fronts money for UNBC safety course
A new safety course will be able to go ahead through UNBC Continuing Studies. A $82,500 endowment from TransCanada’s Prince Rupert Gas Transmission project will allow two dozen students to do the program. TransCanada Safety Manager Dale O’Dwyer says the course is to get people thinking about safety.
“It’s more that we want people to ask the question, ‘why aren’t you wearing the equipment, don’t you understand the regulations, why are we doing things the way we do it” says O’Dywer, “and ultimately at the end of the day, we want everyone to get home, healthy, happy, safe and its just a priority.”
O’Dwyer says the program will provide the foundation for a safety professional. The course is now taking applicants and will start on September 22nd.
