Smithers council is moving ahead with an 8.17 million dollar budget for the airport modernization project.
Councillor Phil Brienesse says they’ll be adding a council member and a community member to the improvement project’s building committee.
“There’s nothing worse when you get to the very end of a project and all the unforeseen things are brought up to you. So this way we have communication throughout the entire process.
Cost escalation and other costs not included in the original estimate increased the budget by 2.17 million dollars.
