Beyond Boarding in town to show films

Beyond Boarding is in Smithers this weekend to show two documentaries about the group’s environmental work.

Group co-founder, Desiree Wallace says the group is touring the province in their veggie oil-powered school bus hosting viewings of the films the group has produced which show their love of environmental activism and snowboarding and surfing.

“The first (film) was down in the Amazon in the headwaters of Peru…and we worked there with a local not for profit to help this little community with their food security by building two floating barn rafts. We documented the whole thing and then followed it up by riding volcano craters in Patagonia.”

She says the second film highlights their tour of B.C. looking at the environmental and social effects of development and how the effects trickle down to create flooding and problems in South America.

The show at the Della Herman Theatre starts at 6:30 pm on Sunday.
