NWCC to offer program to prepare for LNG boom

Northwest Community College has been named one of nine training providers to deliver the Construction Craft Worker program.
Erin Johnston, director of training delivery for the Industry Training Authority says this is in response to the liquefied natural gas industry’s demand for skilled trades people.
“This program really has been developed in direct response to many of the projects coming online as well as opportunities presented by the LNG sectors,” she says. “So it is a really excited opportunity for B.C. and for lots of training providers and industries out there that want these workers on the job site.”
Construction craft workers work mainly outdoors and their tasks include site prep and clean-up as well as setting up access equipment and working on other projects.
The program will be offered at the Prince Rupert campus and will start in early 2015.
