Construction for new hospital going well

Northern Health says the new hospital in Burns Lake is ahead of schedule.
Lakes District Hospital and Health Centre is expected to be ready for patients in February 2015, five months earlier than expected.
Project Director Paul Rudecki  says they are  a couple of factors for the fast work.
“Mild weather in the winter time was a positive factor in the construction so the contractor could do more work in those months, which normally we can’t work outside,” he says. “The second factor is the good organizational skills on the contractor’s side.”
Construction began in June of 2013, the building was fully enclosed by January of 2014, and crews finished exterior work on the facility in September.
The facility will be a two-storey building and approximately 65- thousand square feet with 16 beds, diagnostic imaging, a laboratory and a pharmacy.
