It’s fire prevention week.
Smithers Fire Chief Keith Stecko says the theme this year is Working Smoking Alarms Save Lives.
There are a couple of important points,” he says. “The first is, make sure you install smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside each sleeping area and each level of the home including your basement.”
Stecko says it is also important to check the alarms to make sure they work at least once month. He adds smoke alarms should be replaced every ten years.
