Half of Smithers council seeking re-election

There are nine people running for one of six spots on Smithers town council including three incumbents.
Bill Goodacre is one that is trying to keep his seat.
“I enjoy this community so much so this is how I can give back,” he says. “I’ve gotten a lot of enjoyment out of living here.”
Frank Wray says he wants to keep representing  all residents.
“Things are never blank and white and there are always compromises to make,” he says. “I think that is an area I can help with.”
And Phil Brienesse adds he believes his work isn’t done yet.
“There are a number of things we started like community consultation,” he says. “I’d like to see where we can bring that in the future.”
Councillors Mark Bandstra, Norm Adomeit and Charlie Northrup have decided not to run again.
The election will be held on November 15th.
