Second Ave Housing Project almost done

The property development on Second Avenue in Smithers is going well, according to the Smithers Community Services Association.
The six small houses being constructed across from Northwest Community College are almost done.
Executive Director Cathryn Olmstead says this project is unique because each building is around 650 square feet, meaning they can be more affordable than other rentals in town.
“We are creating some curosity amongst people about how much space they really need in order to live a good life,” she says. “So there is a smaller footprint, smaller cost for energy and things like that.”
Olmstead is hoping people can move in late November. Anyone interested in renting can fill out an application at the SCSA office on Railway Avenue.
She adds, they are still looking for a name for the project, so anyone with ideas can submit those at the office as well.
