Smithers council will be meeting again with the local Recycling Society tonight after a lengthy debate at the last council meeting over curbside recycling.

Two weeks ago the Smithers and Area Recycling Society voiced frustrations with the new program which they say will eliminate sorting jobs at the depot.

At the last meeting, council and the society agreed to meet again this evening to continue discussion surrounding the depot’s role after curbside recycling kicks off in May.

The Committee of the Whole meeting will begin at 5pm, followed by the announcement of the new budget at 6:30pm and then the regular meeting of council begins at 7:30pm.

All meetings are open to the public.
