Smithers council is trying to figure out what to do with the money that came with the Open for Business Award the town won recently.
Mayor Taylor Bachrach says they invited members of the community to brainstorm some ideas at lunch today.
“Some of the ideas that rose to the top are little infrastructure projects to promote our main street and our downtown,” he says. “Everyone recognizes that is a huge asset to our town so there has long been talk about a welcome to down town sign by the new entrance park by Subway.”
Other ideas for the $10,000Â included swapping out the town’s Christmas lights for energy efficient ones, doing a media campaign promoting local businesses and promoting the Love Smithers website.
Councillors will look over all the ideas and make a decision at the next council meeting.
